INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE CORFLO® ANTI-IV ENTERAL FEEDING SYSTEM (POSTER)
For Continuous Feeding with Pump Using the CORFLO Anti-IV Feeding Tube and Extension Set
- Place feeding tube per facility protocol (refer to instruction sheet inside feeding tube package).
- a.) Draw up appropriate volume of formula/milk into ORAL syringe.
- b.) Attach either orange connector of extension set to ORAL SYRINGE.
- c.) Prime extension set tubing and place syringe in pump.
- Attach other orange connector of extension set to ORANGE MALE feeding port of feeding tube.
- Be sure to fully close the side access port of feeding tube with the attached cap. Use care to minimize touch contamination.
- Program syringe pump following manufacturer’s instructions and facility protocol.
- CORPAK MedSystems recommends that the feeding tube be considered for changing after 30 days. Follow facility protocol for flushing, and frequency of change times for the feeding tube and the extension set.
- Follow facility protocol for disposal of used feeding tubes and extension sets.
For Gravity Feeding Using the CORFLO Anti-IV Enteral Feeding Tube:
- Place feeding tube per facility protocol (refer to instruction sheet inside feeding tube package).
- a) Draw up appropriate volume of formula/milk into ORAL syringe.
- b) Attach either orange connector of extension set to ORAL SYRINGE.
- c) Use slide clamp to stop flow at bottom of tubing, then prime extension set tubing.
- Attach remaining orange connector of extension set to ORANGE MALE feeding port of feeding tube.
- Be sure to fully close the side access port of feeding tube with attached cap. Use care to minimize touch contamination.
- Elevate syringe to appropriate level for gravity feeding per facility protocol.
- Follow facility flushing protocol.
- CORPAK MedSystems recommends that the feeding tube be considered for changing after 30 days or per facility protocol.
- Follow facility protocol for disposal of used feeding tubes and extension sets.
For Gravity Feeding Using the Medication Flushing Port on the Feeding Tube:
- Cap off Orange Male feeding port on feeding tube with attached cap.
- Remove excess formula from tip of filled syringe.
- Connect filled syringe directly into the medication port, prime feeding tube by exerting slight pressure with syringe plunger.
- Remove syringe plunger and elevate the syringe to desired level.
- Always follow facility protocols for enteral feeding.
